As a practitioner, my aim is to help birthing families reclaim birth as a natural process, it does not have to be faced with fear, it is a rite of passage, a transformation. We CAN face birth with awe, excitement, empowerment, and beauty. I am here to help you to tap into the primal nature of birth.

Surrender... Birth has a life of its own; it has a rhythm, a wild state of being. Everyone reacts differently to this experience; from surging waves of feeling and emotion mixed with moments of deep quiet- going inward, and everything in between; but if you surrender, you can find your inner rhythm, your inner strength, your wild nature. Surrender is a large part of birth, and one of the hardest - trust is another. Your body knows what it is doing and how to do it, it is your mind that needs to follow suit. Trust your body to carry you through, to show you where to go.

When you flow into the experience (with trust and surrender), the natural hormones that alleviate pain come through much more effectively, and those hormones can even help transform the experience into something much more pleasurable. There are so many natural tools and techniques that can aid a family during birthing time. Some of the tools that I can use are: breath, meditation, visualization and focus (These tools are most helpful when they have been integrated before birth). Hands on tools can include: physical pressure, birth balls, and tens machines. Sensory exercises such as: touch, acupressure, scents, and exercises are very helpful as well.

I am here to help you to empower yourself(ves), but also to educate you regarding the decisions that you think are best for you and your birth. You can come to me with concerns and ideas and I will help you to find the resources that you need to make an informed decision for your birth. I offer holistic nutrition insight, herbal products for your body and teas. My goal is to provide you with the kind of individualized care that will best prepare you for the journey of birth and beyond. There are a variety of services at your disposal that can either be on their own, or come as a package. I offer help with birth plans, exercises to do in the last month of pregnancy to ease labour, partner support, as well as a family values session for mamas and partners.

The postpartum period is a sacred time to connect with your baby as well as your new lives as parents. This time period can also be a challenge to integrate. One of the most important things to remember during this period is SELF CARE. Connecting with yourself and your partner is essential to your new family’s wellbeing. Creating a plan to receive support from your community is extremely helpful to new parents as they navigate this transition. Some popular methods of community support are things like meal trains, or a schedule for visitors to come by and say hello (providing emotional support), while also being of assistance in other ways (doing dishes, making a meal, throwing in a load of laundry etc.). After birth, I offer customized postpartum care packages or stand alone services to help during this integration period. The kinds of support I offer can include things like cleaning, laundry, food prep, emotional support for the parents, as well as short times with baby (and older siblings) so that mama (and partner) can rest and connect. I also offer belly binding, herbal support for your body, and postpartum wellness massages in your home or at U Retreat.
